I don't think I believe this... Everyone likes Mario Kart!

I knew there was a reason I was killing them with booze.

I've got a few dozen neurons who'd disagree, and they're calling the shots

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 6 points 7 months ago

Oh god the mario kart speedrun video essay marathon in lieu of sleep was literally me a week ago

I hate when my brain sees "hmm we're low on water and food, what shall I do?"
and instead of making me hungry and thirsty it just goes "I know! I'm going to activate the 'pain-o-matic 9000!'" and gives me a headache

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 37 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I have this little habit I programmed in my brain

When I feel irritated, anxious, or uncomfortable, I go through a checklist.

Is there a direct reason I'm feeling this emotion? If yes, continue. Otherwise...

Do I feel hot? Am I thirsty? Am I too cold? Is there a bad/annoying smell? Have I been sitting still too long?Am I sick, or sleep terribly? Is my brain chemistry just off today?

Usually I get up and walk, and occasionally I remember to actually get some water or turn on a fan... But more often than not, I'm just too hot and my brain didn't bother to tell me

oh my God, the number of times I've been really pissed off for no reason only to realize it's because the shitty baseboard heater suddenly decided to crank the fuck out of itself and I'm just melting fuckin hot after getting up and feeling that my back is wet...

why does my body suck at noticing that sometimes?

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 1 points 7 months ago

And on that note, why the fuck do modern thermostats not take humidity into account or let you set them to at least half degrees F? It’s really simple math, and should be easy to do with the existing hardware, plus a couple cents for a humidity sensor if they don’t already have one they’re not using

But no, we get touchscreens, custom backgrounds, an app to manage it remotely, the ability to schedules and beep when you press the button…but I can think of no reason why they wouldn’t do simple things to make them more comfortable

Isn't that a sign of low blood sugar?

[–] TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works 9 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

probably? I just googled it and that seems correct, I also match the other symptoms like being dizzy too, but I assumed that was because of iron in my blood or something because my sister gets that. I usually don't eat food until like 4PM on days that I have school which is most likely the issue 😅
I will probably have to start eating breakfast now and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for telling me, I'm excited to see if it makes a difference 🤗

Be careful with that. You can give yourself hypoglycemic reactions that will result in long term hypoglycemia if you don't eat enough. I certainly seem to have done that

[–] moody@lemmings.world 9 points 7 months ago

Dehydration, hypoglycemia, caffeine withdrawal, stress, exhaustion, and so many other causes.

Body: I need water.

Me: Every pizza is a personal pizza if you believe in yourself.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 18 points 7 months ago (3 children)

All that water just takes up precious pizza space.

[–] moody@lemmings.world 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)

In eating competitions, they dunk their hotdogs in water so the buns take up less space in their stomach.

[–] mudmaniac@lemmy.world 15 points 7 months ago (1 children)

As I get older, I start to view eating competitions less as fun and awesome and more like illness.

[–] weker01@sh.itjust.works 3 points 7 months ago

Like most high level sports imho.

[–] mudmaniac@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

You say that and it's funny, but it's also sad and true.

Everyone is saying water but there is a feeling that most people seem to not recognize. Needing electrolytes is distinct from hungry or thirsty but just as important. If you crave a salty food that might be what you need. I figured it out by hiking and getting that feeling.

[–] makyo@lemmy.world 6 points 7 months ago

90% of the time it’s water

[–] tomcatt360@lemmy.zip 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

If you find what you were looking for was fish sticks and custard, then you may be a Time Lord!

[–] Zombie@feddit.uk 6 points 7 months ago

Or a gay fish
