Would've been better with "Aw"

Damn. They were big in my childhood even before shrek

It was cool how they frequently used 60s songs, and had a general "through the years" vibe going. People picked up on that for sure, it's easy to forget they're not just the Shrek band.

Honestly i feel like Astro Lounge was an album ahead of it's time in that they were really the first to bring that retro 60s/70s sound an incorporate it in to modern mainstream pop. Like if that album came out today it would still be a hit.

I like the angry sound of their first album a lot, but yes Astro Lounge is great.

It's sad but I think most people saw this coming after his public behavior at his concerts.

I was there in the trenches in 2015 throwing bread while he rained down insults and threats. It wasn’t a good show but its one ill remember forever.

Yeah I read the headline, remembered that concert where he kept drunkenly telling the audience to go fuck itself, and went "yup not surprised"

He had a history of battling addiction and had to be carried off stage a couple of years ago and retired (?) in 2021 because of health reasons.. You can Google the for the rest of it, but that is the summary.

So that was him I thought I remembered seeing on HermanCainAward.

This man gave me my favorite phrase to sing when getting slammed at work.

"Well they all start coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming..."

Are we not doing "phrasing" anymore?

This is a tragedy. The guy is dying and his greatest contribution to mankind is the song "All Star." More than most of us will do, I guess.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 27 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He also ruined a lot of goodwill by being an anti-vaxxer and doing a Nazi salute on stage. I'm sorry for anyone who dies this way, but I can't say I'm sorry beyond that.

"Walking on the Sun" is a much better song.

[–] Steveanonymous@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

He is a man of respect and he prefers to be addressed as Padrino

[–] jhulten 5 points 2 years ago

I doubt most of our livers would survive losing a kid to leukemia. He made it 22 years.

What a shame. Guess he'll be walking on the sun soon....
