"What do you have to say to your advertisers?"

'go fuck yourselves'

'also we're raising prices for an unrelated reason'

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 37 points 7 months ago

"There's kind of a lot of people leaving X lately. How do you intend to reinvigorate the user base?"

'this calls for a price increase'

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 64 points 7 months ago (2 children)

I feel like the people who pay for Twitter are probably dumb enough to pay whatever price the muskrat wants, so why not make it $200 a month?

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 32 points 7 months ago

Then there's me.

"Twitter had a premium service??? What the hell would it even do??? I thought they abandoned the blue check mark thing."

[–] NeoNachtwaechter@lemmy.world 7 points 7 months ago

so why not make it $200 a month?

Why not make it $200 a week?

How about I pay zero dollars to continue never using that shithole.

Not asking, fuck you Elon.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 38 points 7 months ago

Wayland is better anyway.

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 30 points 7 months ago

The non-bot accounts are leaving the platform, what should we do?

Quick, milk the rubes!

All that free speech ain't free, you know.

[–] Free_Opinions@feddit.uk 0 points 7 months ago

It is if you don't buy premium.

[–] SplashJackson@lemmy.ca 20 points 7 months ago (1 children)

What the fuck is a "premium" X?

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 19 points 7 months ago

Premium X is sparkling diarrhea, only produced by the finest assholes on the internet.

[–] 3aqn5k6ryk@lemmy.world 20 points 7 months ago

Kek. “adjusting” the prices to support the experience it offers. What experiences you dumbfuck.

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 16 points 7 months ago

Who is stupid enough to be paying for that shit? Or is this premium+ what bot accounts need to reach the masses like elon's shit takes?

[–] Zier@fedia.io 15 points 7 months ago (1 children)

So if you add 10 million more bots @ $22/a month that's a lot of money laundering.

[–] 46_and_2@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

This seems like the most likely intended consequence to me. They probably know their userbase well, and actual humans declining aren't gonna be swayed to stay by a price hike. Those bots, on the other hand...

[–] Greg@lemmy.ca 11 points 7 months ago

Those bots are not going to be happy

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 5 points 7 months ago

It doesn’t have to be competitive any more than the room rates at the Trump Hotel in DC.

[–] JoeKrogan@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago

They should jack it up by 100%

  1. Elon wants more money
  2. Elon wants X to be profitable now
  3. He wants to destroy X so Bluesky can take the throne
  4. He wants Truth Socia to be profitable
[–] TacoSocks 2 points 7 months ago

It's #1, always #1.

[–] ohlaph@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago

It's premium prices.
