Woke up with one eyelid very swollen 😕 I'm pretty sure it's sunburn from yesterday... Going to be a bit embarrassing at work though. It's like I got stung by a bee on my eyelid

I had something like that a few months ago. Turned out to be an ingrown eyelash. Give it a few tugs, almighty burst of ouch, then it healed in a few days.

If it's not getting better by tomorrow morning I'll have to inspect more closely. Antihistamine appears to have done zilch

This is a little random, but if I ever decide to become a scientist I really want to study sleep. Things like hypnic jerks, exploding head syndrome, and sleep paralysis really really fascinate me in an "I neeeeeed to know WHY*" type of way. I've directly experienced all of them, and I've read just about every theory under the sun about them, but they just don't satisfy me

For what it’s worth, I think you’d be a really good scientist. You have a natural curiosity about things and a can think deeper about things, and a knack for problem solving. All the essentials.

Feels like 10. This time last week it was pushing 40. Gotta love it.

I had my quarterly botox for migraines this morning, and that combined with this weather is making me so sleepy. I've got plenty to do but I just want to lie here on the couch and maybe have a little nap.

I thought I’d seen it all…

VomitThe past few days have involved Melbcat being sick in all the worst places. But I just heard her gagging and saw she was doing it neatly straight into her litterbox.

What a good girl. Very considerate.

She’s had some antibiotic ear drops today that work for 2 weeks so if she has an ear infection from reacting to the augmentin hopefully she starts feeling better soon.

I have lost the ability to dress for weather under 25C. Do I need a light cardi or a ski jacket? A summer dress? Who knows?

I'm feel like that annoying Queenslander who can't work out Melbourne weather. Which I'm not. Just out of practice.

I have a question I feel like people will get mad at me for, but screw it, I'm going to ask anyway: why is that recipetineat website so popular? It seems like nearly everybody in the country goes feral for it, and I really don't understand the appeal. I do appreciate the jump to recipe button, but that's fairly common now adays, and I do also appreciate the extensive notes but some other recipe sites have those too (JustOneCookbook comes to mind).

Is it just the fact it's Australian?

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago

She has a wide range of recipes and they're easy to follow. She also gives alternative ingredients.

I can't forgive her for her trifle recipe though. It's bullshit you have to make your own jelly from scratch. We all grew up on Aeroplane Jelly in trifle. Nothing wrong with it.

Her recipes are easy to follow and I haven't had one fail yet. The tips and suggest substitutes are always bang on. And there's a dog.

Okay, so good and bad news about my little box thing. The good is that it's arrived at the LPO! The bad is that it's bound for the parcel locker out the front, but they haven't marked it as ready for collection

There's actually 4 other things that I had to redirect to the parcel lockers that are all just sitting there but haven't been marked ready for collection yet.

Reckon it's worth a visit to ask if they've got it and just forgot to scan it in?

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago (4 children)

Don’t think they forgot to scan it.

They probably have a set time where they take all the parcel stuff to the lockers and it’s just sitting in a trolley waiting to be put in.
