Just watched Kingdom of Heaven - Quite a good film, if a bit long. Very thoughtful on the struggle for power and the dynamics behind the uneasy compromises that haunt men's souls.

Theatrical or director's cut? Because those are very different experiences.

The version i watched had a overture and intermission, so i think it was the directors cut.

Yeah, if I remember right only the DC has those. KoH is one of those movies where the directors cut is the only version worth viewing (ironically the other that always comes to mind is Blade Runner. What is it with Ridley Scott?)

Ignoring the historical inacuracies it's one of my favorite medieval movies

The setup was a little comical with disaster after disaster happening during the journey, it was a bit much.

Ambush, boat sinks, fight for a horse

  1. Opening setup, why is the brother priest such a dick to his brother?

  2. The ambush was setup so that the baron's brother would inherit the duchy? Then why have the "gives us the murder" scene at all - and before they made the demand they had already killed one of the crusade party?

  3. Why, upon returning to the original blacksmithy at the end of the film, didn't the lord arrest him for the murder of the brother priest? The horses and king of england coming to the blacksmith had me initially thinking this was a delayed justice party from the local lord to finish the murder business.
