Was Lewis statement due to a question by a "journalist" or did it come unprompted? It felt super weird. The response is not much but feels like an answer to a question.

Edit: to clarify, there is a link to Telegraaf in the X post of Erik van Haren but itโs about the response Max gave to the comment by Hamilton yesterday which can be read in the X post.
Yes that makes sense, but I wanted some context to the reason of his comment. Although I could have looked myself as well, my bad :)

Can we please put someone other than Perez in a Red Bull car? I feel like Max is on this pedestal being compared to everything else but it's mostly the car and Perez just sucks.
I'm not saying Max isn't great just that comparing him to Perez may not be the best measurement.
Perez is on the same level talent wise as Stroll who is being dominated in a similar fashion by Alonso.
I felt the same way the previous 8 years. But Lewis stayed.
I don't think there's a single driver on the grid that could challenge Max even in the same car at the moment. Not Lewis, not Nando, not Chuck, not Lando. He's simply in another league.
