trying on some new shorts in the change room, walk in close the blind pull my pants down and just stare at myself in the mirror for like a good 5 seconds thinking "something isnt right....." takes me that long to realize its cause I'm just standing there with my dick out cause I've stupidly removed my briefs as well! I came back to my office and tried to use apple pay to access the lifts rather than my lanyard, another 5-10 second delay as I grapple with "why did this not work the way I expected".

Jesus, dont let me touch anything important today my brain is cooked.

Go home. Go bed. Reboot.

I spent a few minutes trying to pay for shoes with my Library card once. Happens to the best of us.

[–] mysticgreg@aussie.zone 7 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Last week I grabbed my work swipe card as i walked up to the door of my house, and started moving it toward an imaginary card reader where one would normally be on a work door.

I do not have electronic locks at home.

Also, I haven't needed to use a physical pass to open the doors at work for over a year, when they moved to a new system.

Brains are stupid.

Those days are the days you tell your team "I'm going to accidentally cause more harm than good today, it's best I clock off early. See you tomorrow".

[–] Pilk@aussie.zone 7 points 7 months ago (4 children)

I know I'm not the only one who read this as "cock off".

My neighbour is the best. Dropped in to say hi and got fed roast, wine and now cheese… πŸ₯°

[–] Pilk@aussie.zone 7 points 7 months ago

I have no idea how to be that type of person, but it sounds like a nice type of person to be.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 11 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I’m tired. Woke up a few times to clean during the night.

[–] mysticgreg@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago

Tired too.

Up at 5:30am yesterday to go to work.

Home at midnight because concert, didn't get to sleep until nearly 1.

Up again at 5:30am this morning.

I think the real reason though is that I'm just getting too old for this shit and don't spring back like I used to πŸ˜†

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 11 points 7 months ago (2 children)

been a good day so far

back is greatly improved and I'm sleeping better

went out with froze brain, happened to buy a book and instead of just sitting there at bus stop looking like this as I often do, I was able to read a book

spoiler

also planted another punnet of lettuces seedlings, some parsley, coriander and chives when I got home

Today I am especially sleepy and especially cranky.

Have a networking lunch today. Need to turn my grumpy, don't talk to me energy to personable and approachable. Not sure it's gonna happen.

I did some tech support at an aged care facility today as a bit of a side hustle. It would be an alright bit of extra money if I can make it a regular thing.

I only worked with one person though, trying to get the IMAP configuration working for her ensuing on her phone. Unfortunately I didn't get it set up during the session so I'll need to look into it more

Made it down the Bellarine to fix some watering problems. Chillos have had a week off water but they're not looking too bad:

This is sort of the 'don't have to worry too much' stage thankfully.

Two schools of thought for spacing. Some say they like to 'hold hands' so plant them close, others say the opposite. This year they're holding hands.

Ha. I beat my alarm by 5 minutes but it wasn't good enough. 7 missed calls (do not disturb and sleep mode do a really good job), and apparently my couch has already been delivered. Hope nobody steals it. Multiple small boxes rather than a single large or heavy one

E: I went to cancel my alarms I thought I'd set, but apparently I went to sleep without even setting any alarms. That could've been dangerous...

E2: the table is coming in 12 minutes and I don't believe can be left. I won't be there for another half hour yet. Oof.

E3: he was able to leave the table. Had to sign a thing online, but all good. I'm leaving now, gonna bring a museli bar, banana, and some cookies in my bag. This feels like going to primary school! Gotta bring a piece of fruit or you get in trouble :(

(Does anyone remember that, or was that just a my school thing/new thing?)

Lunch is over, so now I feel like I’m allowed to get properly excited about dinner – Korean food, heck yes!! I’m amused by myself in that I’m watching KDramas, eating Tteok-bokki and drinking soju, but going to Japan at the end of the year…

Speaking of travel, I hope CEO has an easy and safe flight over to NZ today!

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 9 points 7 months ago

I yawned and pulled a muscle in my neck. oowwie

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 9 points 7 months ago (7 children)

It took almost 2 hours to build the couch. Fuckin IKEA man. Dryer man's said he'd be here by 2:15, but I believe those of you also in Victoria, the ACT or NSW may notice it is currently not that. I can't go until he delivers, and I have a rowdy parcel man to satisfy

[–] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 10 points 7 months ago (1 children)

All things considered, building a couch in two hours is pretty good.

It sucks, but! it's a valuable life lesson and learning experience so try and take it in your stride! I'll send you an Uber Eats voucher if you DM you email addy so you can get some free food as a reward.

The whole moving process truly sucks (I've moved 7 times in the past decade alone and started that decade with owning nothing in *this beautiful country).

I am knackered and almost dozed off while waiting for midnight to hit. I probably would've asked someone else to do the DT, but the washing machine finished at 11:49 and I needed to transfer the stuff to the dryer for today, so it wouldn't have made much different. Gotta be up at 8 sharp. I think in 24 hours I can go commence a long sleep with a bonus sleep in

[–] briongloid@aussie.zone 8 points 7 months ago (5 children)

I don't want to be too strict about the timing of the new daily, it's just that when people started getting earlier and earlier, we ended up having multiple and it was hard to choose which one to delete and which to keep.

I'd like to hear some feedback about what rule we should implement, that way we can avoid making people stay up unnecessarily.

I'm open to whatever is preferred by the community.

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 11 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I really don't care. Even a few hours off, whatever. I don't think our little community needs rules about these things. Someone gets up at 5am and there's no thread, just make one. No worries, easy peasy.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago

This is the rational way

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 8 points 7 months ago

I prefer a thread to be late than to be hours early.

No one should have to stay up, just do the thread if it's convenient at that time.

Trying to set up some .gov shit and my phone is too old for the new app.

Will have to get a new one. That's some bullshit right there.

I miss homing pigeons and smoke signals :(

QuiZ for your Wednesday morning- how well do you know US/UK spelling?

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 8 points 7 months ago

13/14

Helps growing up in a country where a mix of both spellings are used.

[–] Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 8 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

14/14

Edit: I do have to say that I’ve always known tidbits as tidbits and not titbits… Interesting.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago

13/14 Damn difficult to work out from the questions which of the two countries to answer for - had to really concentrate. Or maybe I need a holiday to get my brain on straight.

Made it to the new house. I should do some cleaning and such, but too tired. I'm probably gonna take a nap on the floor ngl

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 7 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I thought I should get my ibuprofen tabs and paracetamol tabs to line up but nope, ibuprofen is in rows of 6 and the paracetamol is in rows of 5

I now have until Friday off due to my finger. I'm now not sure if it's getting better or not. If it's still the same on Friday I get to go back for an ultrasound. Hopefully it gets better by then, I want my weekend penalties.

Anyone else collect your cat's whiskers and store them in a container? I have a little tin I keep Mickey's whiskers in. I almost considered keeping his claw sheds, but that's a bit too far; can't turn those into a weird brush πŸ˜…

TMI wound warning... a bit of pus with black bits of debris came out of my finger. Hopefully that means it has managed to expel any remaining bits and there is nothing else in there and my finger can heal properly now.

And happy international mountain day to everyone else!

Cat rambles, cw vomitI’ve been working myself hard then made a few trips to drop off sample and collect antibiotics…

Came home, crashed, woke at midnight so late with bubs food and medicine. Then after I dosed her poor little girl threw it all up 😭

The antibiotics are bitter and strong. I might have to give her antinausea medicine beforehand and wait for it to kick in. This would be so much easier if they were the dissolvable wafers

Edit: Gave crushed ondansetron in water, other meds in a small breakfast and crushed antibiotics in water after those had settled. It stayed down!
