I bought a Kingston 2TB external SSD. Both my Win11 PC and my Raspberry Pi 5 (Raspbian) detected it as a HDD. Is this always the case for all external SSD?

It is my understanding that TRIM is unavailable for HDD. So, if my external SSD is detected as HDD, then TRIM will not be available. I think at the very least write performance will deteriorate. Also, will the longevity of the SSD be shortened?
