I currently have a LaCie 6big Thunderbolt 3 84tb with 7 sets of 6x Ironwolf Pro 14tb drives. 6 of the RAIDs contain about 68tb each of high res video footage with the 7th set unused as of now. I rarely need to access the older footage, but do occasionally work off the current RAID with small editing tasks and transfers. I only swap out the drives maybe 4 times a year if someone needs footage from years ago.
Total footage currently is 400tb. We can go with larger drives to cut down on the number of RAID sets needed, as the footage doesn't need to stay assigned to it's current batch.
The new setup will likely be the primary use RAID and the old one will be the 'backup'. We prioritize safety over speed and access, as it's more important that the footage isn't lost.
Is there a solution that seems best? I honestly haven't kept up with the current products since we set this up about 7 years ago, so I'm wondering if there is something that makes a little more sense than just purchasing another LaCie 6big. Thanks in advance!
