So, I can't just go there, and browse what people have posted? Like I can go to youtube, and even without an account I can watch videos.

I can't just watch videos and browse the site? I can only install an app to use it?

Immich is for hosting your own photos, not for viewing other peoples'. It's an alternative to Google Photos, not Instagram, Flickr, or any other photo sharing service.

If you want federated YouTube/Instagram I think the best equivalents are peertube and pixelfed
