Hello everybody,
I ran a recovery session on Disk Drill a couple of years ago and decided to save everything from that recovery session. It successfully recovered a partition from the disk that had been accidentally deleted, but then it also created this massive other folder where I guess it put a series of files that were corrupt or unsalvageable. It put them in folders like Archives, Video, Images, and Music, with each folder containing subfolders labeled by extension and hundred of files in each folder. For example, one is Video\wmv\file00001.wmv, file00002.wmv, etc etc. I tried to find any evidence as to what these files were/are, but no dice. There's no runtime, just a size and filetype. I tried running these files through dupeguru and Czykawka, but the problem is neither program can even hash these files because they aren't readable. However, some of these files are 4gb in size, so there MUST be something there...right? Anyway, I have no idea what to do with these files. I even tried a program called Winmerge to see if I could use binary data to analyze these files, but apparently Winmerge can only compare files one at a time, which is ludicrous to think I'm going to compare one corrupt file to other files one at a time by looking at the binary data side by side. Does anyone have an idea as to what i can do to identify ANYTHING about these files?
Thank you all in advance.
