But why did they stay the last two years? Why jump ship now? What was the final straw?

A viable alternative with high views

I hope she also considers Mastodon.

Word. Honestly, these days it's a better idea to use multiple outlets since any given platform is vulnerable to downtime, manipulation, interference, etc. Why limit oneself to a single platform?

Because it's convenient obviously, most people prefer to have everything in a single place. It's not safe, but it is convenient.

Can't you just set up an automation tool to post on both places at the same time? And be logged in in both places in different browser tabs or something?

Idk, if being a journalist was my job then that doesn't seem like a lot of effort. I mean, hell, I already do this in the first place just because I'm present on multiple services like discord, slack, Lemmy, etc.

Be wary of simple answers that hinge on a "just." What's simple and easy to one person might be difficult or even undesirable to another for whatever reason. Convenience is a big factor, too.

She has an account there already, but hasn't posted in over a year.

Ahh good to see she dipped her toes. We need to encourage her to keep posting.

I will be following that account!
