Hence the reason I just bought a decent used monitor + external speaker when our last 'smart' TV died. Just give me a dumb display, please

Obviously we no longer have cable, just a media box. And streaming's turned to shite so off to sail the high seas...

Oh, just 32 inches diagonal. I suppose it would be tough to source a monitor as large as those modern living-room TVs.

Are models marked as 'commercial displays' or 'digital signage' free of the smart TV junk?

No idea. I never wanted a smart TV. I always thought they were neat but tbh I just use a console as my gaming and media center. I have no need for the smart features. I miss turning the TV on and the TV just... You know... Turns on... Like instantly.

Now you turn the TV on and it shows you the logo (in case you forgot) and the you have to wait for the connection... Then the image comes on the TV.

Again, the easiest way for me is to just not connect it to a network. I want my "just a TV" back.
