You haven't lived until you have had a chickpea in your mouth.

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 71 points 10 months ago

What's the difference between a chickpea and a garbanzo bean?

I wouldn't pay $200 to have a garbanzo bean on my face.

It's basically bean dip, what's not to love?

Beans are communist. They all look alike.

[–] misterdoctor@lemmy.world 67 points 10 months ago

Fellas is it ~~gay~~ liberal to eat chickpeas

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 47 points 10 months ago (5 children)

Real, conservative men eat only well done steak with ketchup, like Trump.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 12 points 10 months ago

Or cold hamberders

[–] sozesoze@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

Seasoned only with salt and pepper, so you can still taste the stress hormones of the cow

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Honestly, I hate steak, prefer beef well done, and love ketchup 🤔

But you're already not being Jessica! You can't not be two people at once!

"Tomato reduction"

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

steak rare enough that it's actually not safe to eat, with gargantuan greasy fries (absolutely no skin allowed) and the cheapest most sickly sweet bbq sauce.
they then wonder why they keep shitting themselves

Sorry, what?

I love having an hour at home everyday at lunchtime to make fresh, healthy meals from scratch

[–] megopie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Could make hummus before hand, it keeps pretty well in the fridge.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago

Then they wouldn't have made it for lunch.

[–] asteriskeverything@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I mean you just dump it in a blender if you're using canned chickpeas, that hardly takes an hour especially if you've made it a few times and got the hang of it.

[–] FellowEnt@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Dude you gotta skin the peas one by one it takes fucking hours

[–] YungOnions@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago

Don't forget you have to de-stone them as well.

[–] FierySpectre@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

When not using dried peas (soak and cook) the skins float to the surface automatically.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I like it better with freshly cooked chickpeas

[–] asteriskeverything@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I assumed your op was sarcastic/negative tone, but I'm realizing maybe you saw the quality and care this particular hummus took to make and were being genuine.

These results look like they taste amazing. But a can of chickpeas for homemade hummus lunch is a really nice lunch too. I think culture needs to shift from recipes and "right" way to do things and start learning how to cook as a general life skill again. Food is expensive now but do we really feed and shop for ourselves like it is?

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Dried chickpeas are cheaper than canned ...

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 1 points 10 months ago

It might be a 3 hour process, but you can get that down to 3 2 minute tasks and 1 ten minute one. And that's going from dried beans to cleaning up behind yourself... It's really very easy to make

Chickpea dictatorship.

A day without chickpea consumption will be punished.
