Used to think it was petite bougie shit for techbros to feel cool but it actually helps with my eye strain I get after prolonged sessions on the puter. Now I wish every site had it, criminal that some don't.

Lemmygrad and their blindingly bright default theme disgost

But in all seriousness yeah, it does help. probably best to reduce time on the computer still, but why give yourself unnecessary eyestrain when it does happen?

On the contrary though, I appreciate when sites support both dark and light well, as it's harder to read dark mode text when your screen brightness is getting washed out by the sun

There's a firefox extension called dark reader which will pretty reliably turn any page into dark mode. No idea how anyone can read on a bright background for very long. Anything over a 15 minute read for me is getting moved over to the e-reader.

Nice, just dl'd it, works pretty well! Thank you.

Agreed. I set everything to dark if I can

🎶 I see a site theme option, I want to make it black 🎵

I find it depends on the person and the screens. My eyes strain more with white on dark grey. Ambient light is a must to protect eyesight: sunlight in the day and lamp at night. In my opinion, the dark mode like the one on hexbear is slightly too low contrast with ambient light. To be fully accessible, text needs to have good contrast. My eyes can't handle white on pitch black, but black on white fine (for LED panels). Yes, I'm one of those people who leave everything on light mode. *OLED screens are exceptions, they naturally have very good contrast so either dark or light works.

OLED works with the pure black and white as long as you're using it with other light yeah. Otherwise, white on pure black is a heavier eye strain from what I've read.
