Of course I’d download a car…

[–] bizarroland@fedia.io 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I never got that. A download is a copy. It's not taking the file away from the hoster.

If you download a car all the car manufacturers lose is somebody that is either too poor or too cheap to purchase a car from them.

Obviously that is a multi hundred trillion dollar loss but aside from that, what is the actual harm in downloading a car?

[–] satanmat@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

But But I didn’t SELL you the copy!!!

So I lost aLL the monie$ I could have made selling it. So like 11ty bizzallion dollars

A surprise offsite backup; available via BitTorrent

Seriously, I pay for cable TV, I have subscriptions to Hulu, Disney Plus, and Netflix. Anything I watch or listen to that I think I might want to watch or listen to again is in my vault. I'll gladly stream Futurama and Wednesday. If anything happens where I need to unsubscribe for one of those services because of their actions, I will be missing nothing.

media industry has cancer mentality, people should only engage them on selective basis when the fee was earned.

they keep pushing boundaries and we accepted that and this is where it got us lol

2010s tech companies "disrupted" a lot of things, we larped it and now they are attempting to extract their fee while providing less services. they feel brazen.
