I once knew a guy who'd put thousands into Star Citizen in some galaxy brain plan to deny his ex-wife any money, and a Langley real estate agent who'd put even more in because he had too much money and nothing to do. The ships they spent fortunes on and were both most excited for still aren't in game yet, 8 years on.

When they are in the game, me and my legion of divorced men are going to absolutely pwn you for making fun of us.
See pictures from the exclusive big spender steak dinner years back?
The oldness and whiteness and maleness in that room would look out of place in a midwestern fishing gear and tackle shop.
Anyone knows what Star Citizen paypigs think of Starfield? Both games are at least thematically similar.
I reject any competitor to Star Citizen. When my children demanded my time, I told them the NPCs are going to be so interactive soon that I won't need them.
But also this to probably something that actually happened.
Starfield will have lots of Todd Howard fuckery involved but Star Citizen is on another level of sheer grifting scale and magnitude.
wait you're not @UlyssesT@hexbear.net
Waiting for CitizenCON to really drop some Star Citizen bombs, myself. Right now all I could do is report that the main fandom seems uneasy and less sure of itself than usual because Starfield about to come out (and No Man's Sky having ran laps around the eternal alpha and still coming out with even more expansions) makes their sunk cost even harder to justify. There's about the holy loading screens and how 100% of each Starfield planet isn't represented (which is rich because Star Citizen planets are like 1/10 scale anyway and are a whole lot of nothing anyway).
