Again. debord-tired

This "Galt's Gulch" shit has been tried over and over and over again, including in Puerto Rico after the big hurricane a few years back. Each time, it typically fails before the first structures are built and the griftiest grifter runs off with the money. Because Enlightened Self Interest, praise Rand. galaxy-brain

What basic necessity of modern civilization will they fuck up or straight up forget this time? In New Hampshire it was garbage collection, in Chile it was basic sewage sanitation. I hope it’s something new and funny

I'm praying for roads. Like they're gonna make a hyperloop that works even worse than elsewhere or they're gonna make some sort of weird privatized solution to asphalt that just fucks up the paving immediately

"Not building structures out of smelting slag just because it's the most economic material"

Reminds me of the story with the roaming bears in a city that did some weird libertarian policy/program. There is a book about it called a "Libertarian walks into a Bear" Not sure if the books is any good but the real story is funny (or a bit unsettling) if you know about it.

Oh, I know that one.

The "Galt's Gulches" I mentioned were all attempts to start brand-new colonial fever dreams in a vacant area, and pretty much none of them got past the financing phase before the most Enlightened Self-Interested One ran off with the money.

I hope they do it so I can watch it fail meow-shining

I listened to an interview with andreesen once, and that dude is dumb as fucking rocks. I understand how llms work better than this dude

Why does he look like Notch without the g*mer energy?

[–] Parsani@hexbear.net 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I have no idea who that is. Andreesen mainly exudes boomer energy

The alt right bigot who made Minecraft.

Ah like "look at all this great shit I literally can't explain further because I'm the money man, I'm literally just here yo make money but convince myself it's good ol American dream libertarianism" sort of energy?

[–] Parsani@hexbear.net 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ah, I see.

Kinda, he's an "I'm making the world a better place" guy peppered with "I was a coder 30 years ago" confidence. Guy also has e/acc in his twitter bio, which I hope makes everyone finally convinced that x/acc is deeply uncool

[–] daisy@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm out of the loop, what is "x/acc"?

[–] boboblaw@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago

Had to look it up too. Looks like it's some LessWrong nonsense, and he calls himself an "effective accelerationist".

We already know how this will turn out: Half of the city is going to get bogged down in never ending lawsuits from fucking eachother over, and the other half is going to get eaten by bears.

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 1 points 2 years ago

To have bears overrun your city, you first have to have a city. This is gonna turn out like Próspera, where there's more work put into the website than the brick and mortar.
