Some of the wavelengths my light has helps with it. The light has added IR, UV and FR diodes.

Each wavelength induces different effects on the plant, the IR and UV simulates the plant being covered by foliage, so it triggers a response to elongate the internode lengths.

I wonder how much experimentation has been done by the pros where a lot of plants were subjected to different lighting conditions.

Hahaha, a bunch. You should check out Dr Bruce Bugbees stuff. I used his light testing to decide which light to go with.
