20 years ago today the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe was signed. Due to the rejection of the document by French and Dutch voters the treaty wasn't ratified. (en.wikipedia.org)

Another perfect example of why direct democracy is an idiotic system โ€“ the majority of people aren't informed enough to make these sort of decisions.
