Title. Don't really know where else to post this, and I don't want to deal with the awful comment section anywhere else I'd post this. Today, I made my weekly trip to the shitty gas station across the road. $2 for a tallboy of Voodoo Ranger, $3 for a pack of Marlboros, 50 cents a shot, honestly they're GOATED.

But had some guys just run up on me after I left the gas station and made me buy a gram of weed for $10. They originally wanted $20, but I negotiated them down to $15 and then gave them $10 because they had a guy nodded out in the middle seat so they were high AF of heroin. Passed over the $10, he fist bumped me and gave me a shot of vodka and the bag of weed. After I had the bag, I asked if they laced it. Normally people don't lace weed, but they were very clearly high as balls on opiates so I wanted to be safe. Dude just said maybe then drove off.

It made me laugh though because I quickly realized that this really isn't that much different from any of the random shit we're forced to buy to participate in society. Our society normalizes needing to pay to just exist in a public space. Weird ass situation to be sold weed so aggressively. Ended up smoking the weed and taking the shot. Don't think there was any fent fortunately, but the weed is pretty damn good. I've been forced to pay far more for far less. The city is weird

Edit: small comment section so far but just wanna say I appreciate this community not being bigoted and hate boner-y over this. If I posted this somewhere else, I'd be asked about the race of the people in the car, there would be comments about how someone needs to lace their shit, all these awful things that I just do not want for those people. I got narcanned twice before I stopped touching the shit, once was a normal overdose from me being extraordinarily stupid and secone was a true fent overdose, hitting the patch. Trust me, the two are not comparable, there is nothing like the terror of hitting the fent patch that's always in the news. Dude could have robbed me for $100, even $1000 and I still wouldn't wish an unexpected fent death on them. On the people around them who would have to find his body. If those overdoses didn't make the body look so fucking disgusting, fent would be used for lethal injection here. I find people joking about overdosing people to be really shitty.

I'm sorry to be the "this is just like vibeo baym" person, but this seriously reads like a random encounter in Fallout New Vegas or something, lmao. Just getting approached by random people, being very suspicious of their motives and then turning out to be pretty ok, if a little weirded out.

I know, there are just a few things that have happened in my life that feel so fucking scripted to be a bit. They were weird, but honestly I kinda respect it. I could tell they were really going through fent addiction as someone who's also gone through it. They were at the point where they were ready to steal but still didn't want to. They didn't REALLY steal from me. I still got a pretty good looking nug off it. They even negotiated with me. But still, blocking someone from exiting the gas station is coercion. I hope they get better and not worse, but those addiction paths usually only go down until they really hit the shit.

Being surrounded by a khajit caravan after leaving the inn and forced to buy a bottle of skooma for 3 septims.

You're right, they sound like people who are conflicted between the crippling need of addiction and not wanting to do someone else wrong, which, is a really sad situation. It's really unnerving to see this kind of thing happen and knowing that it is very difficult for people like them to find/want to find help before they seriously hurt themselves or others. All in all, a scary thing to have happen to you, but thank goodness at least you (and them) came out relatively OK. I'd be still pretty shaken, so if you wanna talk about it more here we are meow-hug

It happens. I did a side quest to drive a guy home after he got stranded at a grocery at like 2am. I guess he missed his bus or something. The whole way I was thinking "This guy is definitely going to shank me and sell my kidneys on tiktok", but he didn't. Just said thank you and that was it. I was thinking "yeah, this guy might kill me, but being stranded miles from home in the middle of the night would be awful and there really aren't that many stabbings" and decided to risk it. Helps being a very tall, large man, but still. Very nervous sidequest.

Yeah, this is simply just funny. Getting coerced into giving my gas money to another person sucks. But I can't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all.

$3 for a pack of Marlboros

God damn, I'd still smoke if that was the price around me lol

I live in the most anti sin tax states in the country. I don't think the state has agreed to a cig tax increase for over a decade, and they can only do like a penny at a time. Marb blacks for $3, Lucky Strikes are $4, can even Signals (like American Spirits but actually made/owned by indigenous people) for $3.50. There are benefits to living in conservative hellholes, it is surprisingly cheap to drink, smoke, and drug your way to a quick death.

Honestly wish smokes costed more here, my kid is only in school 4 days a week now because the district doesn't have the money. If cigs costed more here, I'd be less stressed because of the school and I'd have less money to smoke.

Fuck that's bleak

If it meant my special needs child getting an extra day of school, I'd give up smoking on the spot. It is selfish to smoke as a 22yo, but knowing $3-6 a week is enough to keep the addiction up is too much. That's cheaper than buying a soda everyday. Those taxes suck for me as a smoker but honestly my kid's life would be infinitely better if I couldn't smoke for $3-6 a week and he had an extra day of school. It could be my alcohol, it could be my cigs, could even be the weed that keeps me from having seizures. I'd seize to death if it meant he got the consistent schedule school was able to really provide him.
