The United Wa State Army (UWSA) is providing protection for a scam centre that recently set up in a remote area of Tangyan Township, shortly after UWSA troops moved into the township.

UWSA providing protection to Chinese criminal syndicate-run scam centers would be against the wishes and policy goals of the Chinese government. UWSA is a guerilla army born of Chinese-formed Communist Party of Burma, and are run by ethnic Chinese and uses Mandarin as official language even though the people are Wa, who spoke a distinct language unrelated to Mandarin.
