According to the theory of quantum immortality, everyone gets their own main-character timeline.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

Karen: “I’M THE MAIN CHARACTER!”

Manager: “But not in this timeline, ma’am.”

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Also, in most timelines you’re dead or never existed.

[–] Sasha@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 11 months ago

That's the best part, you have way more timelines where you aren't the MC so there's basically a 0% chance you're in one now.

Quantum immortality is just solopsism, with the added twist of watching all your loved ones die

Hard pass

[–] original_reader@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Great.

So how do I get there?

[–] rain_worl@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

would tell you, but don't want you to be greeted by quite literally infinite versions of you

[–] Telorand@reddthat.com 15 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Or an extra who's so inconsequential that the writers haven't bothered to give you a story arc.

I'd personally like to believe that I'm preparing to be the wise mentor for a younger hero.

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 11 months ago

very much same. These tend to be the most interesting types of people.

[–] Telorand@reddthat.com 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Aww man, that means you're basically guaranteed to be killed by the villain, giving the hero an impetus to fight.

At least you'll give them a final nugget of wisdom with your last breath that will help the hero in a moment of crisis.

I'll continue to guide them from the spirit realm 👻

A main character, this is an ensemble cast. Just don't let the red shirts know...

[–] wildncrazyguy138@fedia.io 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It’s an MMORPG, we’re all the main characters.

Spoken like a side character. The real question tho is are you a krillin or a yamcha?

[–] imPastaSyndrome@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

SENSU BEAN!

(I mean, Krillin FUCKS)

No one wants to be Yamcha....

Well... Early Yamcha. Hmm

[–] SynopsisTantilize@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago

"Hey, krillin, Iiiiii sensu have a problem..." "Gggrrrrgrggrgruggle"

[–] assassinatedbyCIA@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Too bad my life is a horror story.

[–] Randelung@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Empirically, I'm immortal.
