I move around a lot and don’t have a fixed location, and HDDs are susceptible to breaking under the rough treatment of me dropping a backpack. So I decided to go with only external SSDs.
Anyway, I was wondering if I could partition one external 4TB SSD drive, with 50% being an encrypted backup of what’s on my computer, and the other 50% be an unencrypted heavily used portion for current projects I’m working on (I do video editing).
Of course I would occassionally backup everything on this SSD to another SSD.
Do you see any holes in that system, or would it in theory work as a mobile solution to secure encrypted backups with sensitive info in the case someone robbed me, plus using an unencrypted partition for projects (where the data isn’t sensitive)?
Are there any drawbacks regarding partitioning an SSD for use in this way?
