I really don't get why Gabriel isn't in the back line. That allows us so much more security and let's white push to the wing - when he shifted this match we changed the game.

[–] MHPengwingz@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm quite wondering why this is happening? Is it issues in training or is there a knock they're trying to manage so it doesn't get exacerbated?

[–] LotrOrc@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Haven't heard any hint of an injury at all, and he probably would have mentioned it himself.

Can Brighton just go beat West Ham now so Shit aren't top of the table?

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You had to go and jinx it...

Or I guess West Ham can go top on goal difference. Wtf West Ham? Are they good this season or is it the bimonthly stinker from Brighton? This is because I added a 3rd Brighton player to my FPL.

I'm so glad I didn't sell Gross yet

[–] sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago (2 children)

We can't be drawing games like that. Why stop at 2 goals?

[–] xl3lx@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 years ago

same shit , happens in every game, we look hungry, sharp and keep the pressure high when we're losing or drawing. Once we start leading we just stop functioning, it's like the team is unsure what to do next after scoring.

[–] MHPengwingz@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

We're going back to not being able to kill games off, they need to be more ruthless

[–] sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Though as I say that, we had over 3 xG. We're also back to not being able to finish to save our lives, and keepers going super saiyan against us...

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Not really that great goalkeeping considering half the shots were just directly at Leno's hands

[–] sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

It's true, I don't know what was going on with that but even Saka and Martinellie who tend to get creative with their placement were just going center mass all day

Paul Tierney making us pay for sending his distant cousin to Real Sociedad.

[–] xl3lx@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 years ago

can't be challenging for the title if we cant even beat a 10-men fulham at home.

[–] ironeaglebird@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Oh my god. Everton lost to Wolves by 1 goal.

[–] mjpc13@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

And thank god for that and for the big man Sasa

[–] MHPengwingz@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

What happened to our set piece defending? We were great two seasons ago at that.

I think Arteta really needs to concede that the Partey in the back isn't working. I think it's a fitness issue but I like to see Zinchenko starting soon. This is also the first game that Havertz frustrated me, you were right in front of the goal, get the ball. Ødegaard is a workhorse but he hasn't been as sharp.

Thank god for Eddie, and a very decent performance for Fabio is a positive.

[–] coygsu@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Gabriel was a key component of the set piece defending scheme.

[–] HaleEndGrad@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

How do you accommodate Havertz at LCM while making sure both Rice and Partey both start?

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Just don't start Partey. He's back to dropping 4/10s.

[–] Matt_Sams_314@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I'd rather drop Kai, he's not contributing much

On watching replays, Leno was absolutely outside the box. Disgusting how VAR said "nah it's fine" again when it's against us

[–] raumdeuter@arsenalfc.social 4 points 2 years ago

Well, we know know for certain how VAR really works and it explains all the bullshittery we've seen in the Premier League implementation since inception. Especially compared to other competitions. English VAR is just a white-labelled repackaging of the terrible English referees.

[–] HaleEndGrad@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 2 years ago

Saka was the only one between whoever scored the second and the open net. And he received it on his feet.

We're that bad at defending set pieces.

History rhymes - Zinchenko sloppy pass to give away a corner.

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

It's almost like Tierney is better defensively...

[–] MHPengwingz@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Well I guess West Ham is getting their groove back

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Just gonna point out, if refs actually gave us fouls when we deserve them we'd have easily beat them, and wouldn't have conceded the second goal.

[–] sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah, but if we keep beating that drum we'll go mad.

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

And if we stop we'll never get change to happen. It's a bit hard to say.

[–] sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Honestly I don't disagree, but I genuinely fear for retaliation from the PGMOL, because they've shown that they're not above that sort of thing.

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I mean, what are PGMOL gonna do to fans? Dox me?

[–] sensiblepuffin@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Nah, they'll just send our players off

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Nothing new then
