Got my open mic spot locked in for Thursday!!!!!! Fuck. Yes!

I'm so fucking pumped lol

Edit: 7:30pm Lyrebird Lounge if anyone is in that area and feels like coming along.

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 7 points 10 months ago (2 children)

OMG congratulations!!!!!

I'll try and come down to see you play!

[โ€“] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 6 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Sounds like a fun plan! Just near Ripponlea station too. Do you know roughly what time/order of performance? eg. 3rd in queue or what? No problem if this isn't known - open mics are notorious for running over the time budget, what with set ups and tear downs and all.

I put on my grown up pants today and called to book in for a new mental health plan and reached out to a psych for an appointment. She specialises in depression and trauma but can also do adult adhd assessments so I'm hoping she can help me unpick some things. I'm not in crisis (which I have been every other time I've sought help) so I'm feeling partly good about this and partly feeling like I am wasting everyone's time and they will think I'm bunging it on .... and that folks is why I need help unpicking some stuff !

But geez louise there's proper money required even with the rebates. faark this system - It shouldn't be a privilege to be able to seek help.

[โ€“] tone212_@aussie.zone 9 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I've got on my list to get a new mental health care plan as well, it's time to invest in my MH again as I've felt myself slipping a bit lately. This post has motivated me to make a booking.

The cost for appointments is ridiculous even after the rebate. I called last week to find out the updated prices of the place I used to go for therapy, and they've hiked so much just in the 18 months since I last went.

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 8 points 10 months ago

Good on you for taking next steps, it's not easy but it is very necessary. Having just done that today though, good lord I hear you on the costs - I won't listen to a thing the Feds spruik around MH until they put more money into subsidising treatment. Especially if MH is impacting your earning capacity...

Gorgeous. The steel come up real nice or (wrought iron?)

have you attempted sanding back the decorative areas on the drawers? I feel like slightly sanding back just the face of the scroll design and then re-staining could really make it more pronounced. If that makes sense.

Thing must weigh a ton.

Got a letter from a lord mayor candidate asking me to vote for him, but the letter is almost all generated by ChatGPT. Reckon he's gonna use an AI to run the city?

[โ€“] SituationCake@aussie.zone 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Yes. The new way of doing things is to use AI to compose an email, then the recipient asks AI to read the AI created enail and summarise it, then tell AI to compose a reply.

Me too buddy. Me too.

Edit: I think Gibson is over the singing l she used to hang out in the studio with me before, but she walked straight out when I got started lol

Would love to stop feeling anxious about an appointment for my medications that I need. I hate that cannabis is so frowned upon, that I still hold the feeling of doing something illegal, when I need it to sleep.

This has been such a shithouse week for me, no restful sleep, just nightmares and a impending sense of doom.

Fucking ugh. Leave me alone, Brain, why can't you be kind to meeee wah wah lol

Carpet moths have also returned, so slept on the couch after soaking them in vinegar and punching the ones that tried to escape. I hate carpet. Never install carpet.

I don't have the executive function to deal with this shit

HUNGRY

Damn hormones. You'd think eating a full dinner might curb the hunger at least a little bit but no, apparently any time I'm not actively stuffing more food down my body is not happy. โ˜น๏ธ

Edit: There is now pudding in the oven.

The man bought me baklava on Saturday and today he bought me a block of chocolate. I love it but please stop but also thank you and keep it coming but not too much.

Ugh. Dealing with multiple different allergy people is a nuisance. Off to boil my blind baking beads.

I have a problem that gets me every damn time, and itโ€™s completely my fault.

The Athenaeum Library gives you a lovely, sturdy, capacious book bag when you join them. The borrowing period is also lengthy - one month.

Every time I go, I fill this bag.

Then I have to eventually return them, and hauling the full book bag up the stairs is a pain in the bum

Made a stinky savoury spread for lunch.

Anchovies, garlic, capers, mustard and some chilli. Mush with mortar and pestle, spread onto fried bread.

Absolutely delicious....definitely not office or society friendly though.

I'm wishing and willing this headache to be a stress based one and not the premonition of a cold/flu. The last thing I need right now is that...

Having a go with Nasonex to see if it helps. God help me if I've developed hay fever this year after not having it my whole life.

Positive things for today, dropped in to a friend's place in the morning, got my MH referral and a psych appointment for Wednesday itself - glad I didn't have to wait too long at all. I just haven't got any brain cells left though. Guess I'll go to campus and do some journaling even if the papers make no sense to me. Just need to stay out of the house...

Um, so, I burnt my thumb with concentrated white vinegar. I tried googling what to do, but I haven't been able to find an answer.

Just wondering if the wisdom of the DT has any insight?

pic of thumb, sfw

Edit: nvm. Ive just realised it's interacting with the grazes I have on my thumb from punching moths yesterday; I missed and punched the wooden bed frame. Rinsed thoroughly

Melbcat is eating well again. She started refusing the fancy wet food and seemed a bit off with the probiotics so Iโ€™ve just been giving her the plain nutritionally complete homebrand with her meds mashed in.

She is loving the electric blanket in cooler weather. Comes to cuddle in the day and sleeps on it at night. If Iโ€™m half asleep and donโ€™t lift the doona she burrows under it herself to be incubated like an egg.

Four assignments due next week. Three exams. A few quizzes. Ten weeks of lectures for one subject which will be watched in 2x speed.

Then we're done.

I don't feel like I've learnt much from my degree, except that I should be better at time management. Hoping I won't be saying that about the next course I do because that one should be the one that actually gets me a job!

Getting out of bed at 6:30am for a potential early morning soil delivery isn't the most fun start to the week. Hope the dirt and literal shit comes soon.

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I'm very glad that bulk soil delivery is a "last year problem" for me. Shovelling soil into a wheelbarrow, carting it to the back yard and then shovelling it out again into raised beds was not a fun experience.

Really need to get my eyes checked. Sat down to do a quick pile of mending and spent 90% of the time failing to thread a needle.

Since I complained about tv before I want to add a positive. This movie does not get enough credit. And possibly the best opening sequence of almost all time. Serenity's "Landing" sequence The music, the logo becoming the ship, the way it quickly intrudes the characters so perfectly to those who don't know them. and the quotes. My god the quotes!

Quotes"This landing is gonna get pretty interesting." "Define "interesting"." "Oh God, oh God, we're all going to die?"

"Well, what you plan and what takes place ain't ever exactly been similar."

"This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then - explode."

"We're robbing the place, we're not occupying it."

"You told me those entry couplings would hold for another week!" "That was six months ago, Cap'n." "My ship don't crash. If she crashes, you crashed her."

"...If anything happens to her, anything at all, I swear to you, I will get very choked up. Honestly, there could be tears."

"Honestly Doctor, I think we may really crash this time anyway"

Such a work of art.

One of my most unpleasant jobs is to scoop the dry dog food from the big bag to the smaller bag for convenience.

The dog's most excitable jobs is to watch me scoop the dry dog food from the big bag to the smaller bag whilst I try not to gag.

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Why does dry food make you gag? Is it just super stinky?

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Not super stinky. I'm not keen on the fine particles that gets released when I start scooping. Doesn't smell great.

I'm umming and ahhhing about bringing someone I've been on a few dates with me. Seems incredibly douchey...

Like "look at me" sort of thing. I dunno.

Edit: yeah nah next time I reckon

[โ€“] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 10 points 10 months ago (1 children)

A few dates as in its early days? Or as in "were just short of titles here"? If its early I maybe wouldnt if its your first gig in a while, no need to add to the nerves I woulda thought.

[โ€“] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Early days definitely. I think you're right, better to not have that extra stress

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 10 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I'm keen to rock up and silently judge you.

[โ€“] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 11 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Fuck yeah! Ask bacon to give you some tomatoes to throw at me lol

[โ€“] bacon@aussie.zone 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

add to note: do not give tomatoes to bottomracer

Today I have been conducting my business while listening to various John Carpenter movie scores. It gives even the most innocuous situations a creepy vibe.

Hmm, went to a local bar last night. I used to semi-frequent it and have always had a good time.

Last night they asked to scan my ID and they took a photo of my face. I was told they only retain data until the end of the night.

Anyone have any idea what the legalities are around this?
