Original Title: I have an 18TB drive in a single-drive Synology DS120j NAS. Planning to get a 4-bay Synology DS423 4-drive NAS, and will install 4 18tb drives in RAID 6. I want to move the data from the single drive. Can I just put the single drive in bay 1 of the new 4-bay nas?

I'm currently using a single bay Synology NAS and backing up to a cold storage hard drive. I want to get this 4-bay Synology nas and with 4 drives, I was planning to run it in RAID 6 and not have to manually backup the data.

If I got this 4-bay NAS, can I just pull the 18TB drive from my current single-bay Synology NAS, place it in slot one of the new NAS, along with 3 new 18TB drives, and will it setup in RAID 6 and keep the files, or will I have to restore the files from my 18TB cold storage NAS?

Thanks in advance for any info
