Sorry if this is a stupid question but I've been a long time lurker, I enjoy archiving things as well although not to the extent of some people here with double digit terrabytes worth of stuff & several hundred worth of equipment solely for the practice

But, I have to ask, why does everyone here mainly use/talk about HDDs? From my understanding theyre very slow, outdated and although cheap and withstand the test of time, don't do a very good job at being quick and efficient.

Why not SSDs? My PC currently only has 4TB, but its 75% taken up, and I'm thinking of just buying another SSD.
