"I vow to always maintain this"

So that was a fucken lie.

If I saw 20 articles pop up about my mod that directly violates TOS I’d also run for the hills. If journalists kept quiet it probably would’ve stayed up.

How much trouble can you legally get in for this? It doesnt really seem like much. If anything this dude was helping them sell copies

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 26 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Even if he didn't do anything illegal, Sony has enough money and lawyers to hurt him. Unless a judge threw out any case early, he'd still have to defend himself, which cost money and takes time.

True, I'm just wondering if he expected it to stay under the radar then or what. Cause this is probably the most sought after mod for Sony PC games.

Might have been one of those, "dog that caught the car" moments, where it got a lot bigger than he ever anticipated and didn't expect all of the attention.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

Should have open sourced it, so it could be forked to infinity. Didn't look anything up so maybe its hosted somewhere idk

I love all the comments implying this dude is a coward. Total armchair shit

Children trying to talk about adult topics.

[–] GBU_28@lemm.ee 15 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Seriously. It's all shit posting and vidya until legal council from a multinational corporation is knocking at your door.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 6 points 10 months ago

Corporate komisar doesn't appreciate you!

The game is cracked already; what's the point pursuing someone that just removes PSN from legal copies?

[–] burgersc12@mander.xyz 21 points 10 months ago (1 children)

There's a reason they want all the legal copies to have PSN login, if they were fine with it getting bypassed they wouldn't have made it a requirement in the first place

Lock you into their eco system and sell more of your data

[–] GhiLA@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

To sell them more games and merchandise and sell any data it collects.

[–] MigratingtoLemmy@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

Good. Fuck Sony

[–] moody@lemmings.world 6 points 10 months ago

Once you put it on the internet, it's there forever.

I could of sworn I read Sony decided to make the PSN account optional.

[–] turtletracks@lemmy.zip 11 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I think that was for Helldivers 2

I just searched it, straight from playstations website:

https://direct.playstation.com/en-us/buy-games/god-of-war-ragnarok-pc

"Do I need a PSN account to play PlayStation games on PC?"

"No, you currently do not need a PSN account to enjoy PlayStation Studio games on PC, but you will need a Steam account to redeem your voucher code. Some of our PlayStation Studios titles also offer incentives for linking your Steam and PSN accounts."

Edit: Their website could be outdated, or incorrect? I just swear I saw an article title that Sony removed the requirement for PSN for Ragnarok PC.

Called it. Not in this fashion, but called it.
