Hi friends, I am a data noob and looking to back up many old videos of my kids. Personal use only -- no professional use, or anything sensitive. All videos are from the last ~10 years, taken from various smartphones etc.

For this use case, I'm looking for external hard drive recommendations. When I say "external" I mean -- a thing I can plug into my laptop and transfer files to. (If there is a better definition I'd be glad to hear it!)

If some other unknown (to me) method is better than an external hard drive, I'm all ears. Or other recommendations that would solve my use case. I have already searched the sub but am a little turned around.

Budget range is flexible, including the high end. Thanks in advance!
