Dear DataHoarder Community!

After delving into the philosophy of data hoarding, I have to say that I find it extremely appealing. I share the belief that archiving content from the internet is crucial. I have a few questions for you, and I would greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to answer them.

  1. How do you ensure that downloading content remains within legal boundaries?
  2. Should I contact the respective websites if I’m concerned about legal consequences? (For example, asking if I can download the content?)
  3. What browser extensions do you use and recommend? (What do you think of SingleFile?) —> I’ve already checked the r/DataHoarder FAQ, but here I’m curious about your experiences, especially with SingleFile
  4. How do you organize your hoard (if at all)? Is a format like YYYY-MM-DD_Filename (for files) and folders like Images-Family with subfolders Images-Family-2024 (for folders) a long-term practical and sensible idea?
  5. How do you avoid malware on your systems, and what measures do you take to prepare for a "worst-case scenario" in this regard? (Besides using VirusTotal beforehand and regular backups.)

Thank you!
