I am in need of a bigger HDD for my media, right now I have a WD Black 6tb and its just over the 5 year mark and im out of space, was thinking of a 8TB or a 10tb replacement but then I realized I haven't used this high end drive for gaming or anything intense lately as I've added 2 additional SSD's into my PC.

So I think it makes sense that this replacement drive shouldn't be a performance high end HDD like the WD Black...

I have researched and it looks like the WD Red plus 10tb or 8tb should be the option that makes the most sense but I just have 1 question, its labeled as a "NAS" drive, does mean anything of significance if I intend to just use this the exact same way as I was using my older WD black drive? All I want to do is unplug my black drive, and plug this new red one in but would the set up and everything else be the exact same? I'm confused because when researching it mentioned that the red drives were more suited for businesses (pretty sure I read something like that) which makes me worry because I would just be using this as my personal backup drive.

Another thing I wanted to confirm Is the noise, would this Red plus drive at a bigger size (10 TB red VS. a 6 tb black) actually be more quiet? Because the fact it would be almost double the size would make me think that it would be louder than my older smaller 6TB black drive?

Also, if you guys think there is a better alternative option other than the WD Red let me know please! I have used this WD Black drive for over 5 years and have noticed nothing wrong with it so I am pretty sold on WD being amazing but am open.

Any help greatly appreciated!
