Does anyone have any experience recording TV channels 24/7?

I've got a spare Mini PC and I was thinking about buying a tv tuner to record either one or several tv channels 24/7 - ideally also use it as an EPG to record TV shows from any channel instead of using the TV to do the recordings as it has DRM on it.

What's the best way to go about this? I was thinking about a decent TV tuner, a lot of harddrive space but as for software I've got no idea. Any advice?
