I am eyeing this WD Red Plus WD80EFPX 8TB Hard Drive on sale for $144 right now. Yes, I know it isn't quite the $15 a TB and under gold standard pricing, but I'm pretty desperate for at least 1, quiet drive right now for basic media (movies, TV shows) as my 3 TB worth of unraided external drives are maxed and I don't want to have to resort to deleting old files. I have a separate WD SN850x SSD for video games and more complicated programs. However, I also know this drive is specialized for NAS set ups and I do not and will not have one of those for the indefinite future, simply putting 1 or 2 drives in my Corsair 4000D computer case's hard drive bay. I plan to either watch media from the drives while at my computer or to put it on a USB to watch on a device in another room. I don't want over pay, but the WD Blue's are literally only $4 cheaper at their current on sale price of $140 on NewEgg. It would have been nice to have the Blue's available for previous low prices of $12.5 a TB, but for the time being, is the WD Red Plus the clear way to go?

Or is there a Seagate option that can match WD's noise levels at a less expensive price?
