I just went through this thread about somebody noticing the gold spinning down and taking 2-4 seconds after double clicking a folder for the contents to come up.

I see the gold is marketed as more reliable than their other hard drives. Now I’m thinking this reliability is because they are essentially running less hours being on. Has this thread linked or the gold line behavior been discussed before?
