Whatever their skin routine is, it's doing a decent job. You'd think trash pandas would be collecting blemishes.
Having your skin protected from the sun at all times really helps.

A long time ago my roommates and I shaved just the tip of our cat's tail, like the last two inches. It was absolutely hilarious.
People are going to crucify me for animal abuse but I swear the cat was totally cool with the process.
I mean, it's a dick move, but doesn't qualify as abuse imo. No harm would come from it by itself, and if the cat didn't object at all, it's not worth arguing about.
But my grandparents had to shave their cat's tail for a few years. He would suck on it, and in the process pull out hairs, which would end up with sores where they had been pulled. So the vet said to keep it shaved down, if the cat would tolerate it. The cat did, and no more issues.
I mean if you only fid it once and the cat was not hurt by it I personally would not call that abuse. Sure you did it for no reason but the cat did not really suffer for it.
Did he give you a dirty look after he saw the result?
She didn't care at all but it brought everyone who visited much amusement.

Was there some medical reason for this? Seems too extensive to have been done for surgery.
I got this off Instagram - it was not explained why the raccoon was shaved, but it showed him growing the fur back in later videos.
It's just a little thing called style, perhaps you've heard of it?

Poor raccoon.
Looks like it's in an animal care facility of some kind. My guess is that it had some crud in its fur that they couldn't wash out easily, or maybe a pest infestation like lice.
