Setup advice. NAS via WiFi repeater at home. Stupid idea or OK?
I want to improve my backup setup for home photos/videos/docs. Looking for advice. Current setup:
- Main storage PC
- Backup #1 external hardrive
- Nextcloud on VPS (only docs + sync with phone)
Future setup:
- Main storage PC
- Backup #1 NAS with 4 slots (2nd slot for mirror, 3/4 for future expansion).
- Backup #2 NAS at parents house (identical setup to #1 + network share)
- Nextcloud stays the same
The problem:
I won't be able to connect NAS directly to the router and will need to use WiFi repeater that has Ethernet port. The speed and stability is going to be probably bad? :/
So if we remove backup #2 and network share between NAS, is it a stupid idea to buy NAS only to use it as offline and bring it from closet everytime I need it?
