Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

I didn't so much forget it as I did assume Texans were just playing the martyr for getting their collective asses kicked in. Again.

You know... Like Dallas Cowboys fans?

San Jacincto was a different battle wherein Mexico got their collective ass kicked in there. The Alamo was a rallying cry.

Alamo itself was a rout for the Texians [sic]. There's no side-stepping that. It goes as it goes.

"Have some apple pie. Oops, can't forget the ala mode."

I think I got it from Colin Mocheri on Who's Line. So close.

Remember that's the first time Texas fought for slavery.

What about the Lusitania? There's so many things we forgot to remember!

[–] Cheems@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

The Alamo is worth being forgot about. It's always told as a feel good story but it's actually just kinda fucked up. Pretty on par for American history

[–] DaMonsterKnees@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Clearly, you haven't seen PeeWee. I ONLY remember the Alamo.

What the fuck is an Alamo? Is it like an Internet but with less porn?

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 year ago

Remember the Alamo!

[–] potentiallynotfelix@lemmy.fish 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Weren't they telling Mexicans not to forget the Alamo? I'm not Mexican, so I shouldn't need to remember the Alamo

[–] JoMomma@lemm.ee 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Aren't we all Mexican on the inside?

If someone weighs 120lbs and has severe munchies, probably from that Grave Reaper Vanilla Kush Zombie Lettuce OG, and eats 12lbs of tacos would that make them 10% Mexican?

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The Alamo's a story of American expansionism by an ungrateful group of settlers welcomed by Mexico.

[–] Dkarma@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

America are the bad guys in the Alamo story.

[–] darkmarx@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

If that were the case, how did you know to post about it?

[–] pezmaker@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago

As all things will be forgotten. So it goes.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Forget about Dre though?

[–] CaptainKickass@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

The bicycle is in the basement

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 5 points 1 year ago

I think that only applies to Texans.

[–] mydoomlessaccount 5 points 1 year ago

Fuck 'em, I do what I want.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Can't forget what you never knew in the first place.

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

In other news, you just lost The Game.

[–] rockerface@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago (3 children)
[–] helpImTrappedOnline@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I've started ignoring random posts about it.

Its the equivalent of telling your little sibling about it and having to listen to them shout "I lost the game" for next 5 months. It gets old quick.

Now if I think about this post and comment later on my own, then sure I'll have lost the game.

[–] Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 1 year ago

Nah. The moment you even think of the game you've lost it, the only way to win is to die and hope there's no afterlife so you don't have to think about it.
