Hello All,

New to this sub. I'm trying to figure out a solution for now.

My NAS has been fine for months. Disk drives show no errors.

Disk are 4xMDD 14TB Model Number OOS14000G.

Data size is about 22TB

My raid didn't come up after I did a shutdown. I opened a ticket with QNAP and they had to force the array back up. I can see data. Lots of it is junk data, but data I love. They sent me the drive compatibility list and shame on me for not even thinking about checking or looking for one. But the drive sizes are smaller in comparison to what is available today.

My thoughts are the following:

  • Buy a new NAS that can use the MDD disks.
    • Looking at Synology 4 Bay need to verity compatibility.
  • Purchase Cloud Storage somewhere.
  • Buy an external usb drive enclosure and use RAID0, nervous on this one.

Since I don't have a place to put data, I'm thinking of using a cloud service to host the data as a temp spot.

I do have Gig up and down so that will take time, but as long as it is done during the month I can cancel.
