Hi all,

I recently got my hands on a Dell PowerEdge R720 with 8 * 3.5" HDD slots and a PERC H710 RAID controller. I am planning on putting in 8 6TB HDDs as I had 5 fairly young 6TB drives laying around and have 3 more on the way.

I would like to make use of the RAID controller as I have only ever used MDADM for RAID so this is something quite new to me. I have spent some time so far playing around with it however when the rest of the drives arrive I would like to set it up for proper usage.

I was wondering what you guys would do with this hardware yourselves? I understand people have very different needs so the answers could vary quite a bit but I just wanted to hear some ideas/opinions if that's okay :)
