I'm running Snapraid with dual parity (18tbx2) and five data drives (also 18tb each)

So last time one of my drives was warrantied I decided to keep one 18tb it in the closet as a spare for when I lose any data drive or parity drive since my largest drive is 18tb. It's currently empty, and has only been hooked up to test.

I was thinking today, should I at the very least have some data on that drive even though it's unplugged and in my closet? My idea is to wipe it when I need to replace a drive I my array, but is it safe to put data on the drive and leave it unplugged and boxed up in my closet?
