I currently have many different locations with Synology DS1819+ NASs with DX517s. It is getting harder to find this model and I really don't care for the new ones where you have to hack them to be able to use non-Synology drives. I need to setup another site with 200TBs of storage or more. I need to be able to sync the data between this site with all the others - which makes doing another Synology easier to setup/use.

I am a bit put off by Synology's dated hardware too. I do not use this device for anything other than file storage though. I can build an Unraid server with better hardware than the Synology systems for a lower price too.

Would you just put in another Synology because the ease of setting it up and its integration into the current infrastructure or would you build an Unraid server and figure out some way to sync files between it and the Synology NASs? I can do either one and just want your opinions.
