Time to lawyer up and beat that city council down for blatant discrimination on the basis of protective class.

Ew. And then the guy was on vacation on the day folks were coming to speak in support of Nation.

Is it standard in the US for councillors to be appointed and not elected?

Not where I'm from, but I guess it varies with location. I don't live in such a small village either.

He also talks about running for election in 2025, so perhaps it was a sudden vacancy and temporary appointment until election

…. But I’ve never lived in such a small village

My town’s are all elected.
