I came here to say this, glad I'm not alone. I'll pretend to watch as they walk away, then rewind 10 minutes. I'm sure they hate it :)
I then get them saying "oi, why did you rewind it!"
“Didn’t want to hear your nasty farts!”
“Understandable!”
This but with the remote from click and I just keep listening to them piss
"Oh no, I'm pausing it. If I have to watch it, so do you."
This hurts when its your kids too. Like, you're trying to watch one of the coolest movies ever with them, and they're military crawling on their bellies around the corner to try and escape to their rooms.
Kids are a special case. You can't be forcing your interests on them. If they're in the mood, they'll stay. If not, another time.

You think they aren't interested in the film you like, but they might just have to be "noisy" and don't want an audience.
Just dealt with a similar thing after telling some friends about Murder Drones. My kid got me into it and I love the hell out of it. I tell friends, they watched it, then told me "eh". :(

Yes, in a way. It's an eldritch horror comedy. Plenty of weird murdery stuff in it. (That's the whole show there in the link.)

i have friends who tried to make me watch it but I hated it so so much I was unfortunately in the position of the person saying "don't pause it". I think it's absolutely terrible
I'm not pausing it for you. I'm pausing it for me, so I don't miss anything while you are shuffling around the room disturbing my focus.
