Mick Schumacher has been kinked with a return to the grid [...]

If thatโ€™s what heโ€™s into, who are we to object

Love is love, man. I hope Mick and the grid are happy together.

Maybe I've missed something but isn't Williams pretty much set with Sainz and Albon?

They are, this is talking about the likely replacement of Logan for the remainder of the 2024 season.

Poor Logan. Nothing worse than getting pulled out mid-game.

Yep, so demoralizing for the driver.

โ€œIf it were my decision, I would tend to favour Mick,โ€ Vettel told Bild. โ€œOf course I'm a bit biased because he's my friend, but in my eyes he's the best solution.

Is there any actual substance here beyond what Seb would do in a hypothetical situation?

German media (RTL, Bild) has been claiming over the last week that Williams is considering Mick for the rest of 2024. Just like how before they claimed that Alpine was considering Mick for 2025.

Suspiciously no one except German media reported any of this.

If Williams are wanting to avoid damage repair bills, then Schumacher isn't the best choice...

Come on. We are not on reddit, check the facts and make fair assumptions.

In the second half of his last F1 season Mick was much better than Magnussen and didn't crash at all. In endurance he had no crashes at all and is besides the fastest driver for Alpine.

The boy is not the next Verstappen, but a solid driver that shows potentials, a really great team player and is learning from his mistakes. Give him a fair chance and judge afterwards.

You're right this isn't Reddit, and whilst my comment was somewhat tongue in cheek, it still remains that Mick did around ยฃ3m worth of damage to his car in 2022. Crashing heavily in Jeddah at the start of the season, for second time, having done so the previous season... Then splitting his car in half at Monaco.....& in the second half of the season had a big shunt into the barriers during FP1 in Japan (October 2022), on an in lap.... Whilst he did improve, he's been out of an F1 car for over 18months, & would probably not be the best option....

Heโ€™s the reserve driver for both Mercedes and McLaren, which means he spends a significant amount of time in simulators and occasionally gets test runs in their cars. Heโ€™s also done Pirelli tire testing and even had a shootout for Alpine. All done in more recent F1 cars than his Haas days.

No crashes, no complaintsโ€”just praise from several team principals. Steiner crafted a particular narrative around him, but without that, heโ€™d likely be seen in the same light as Drugovich or any other experienced reserve driver familiar with Merc engines.

Hulkenberg has done alright.
