I've seen an unfortunate increase in posts like this lately. Someone will ask for help on some subject, several people will reply with a lot of detail and knowledge, and then OP never replies to the thread again. It's actually not just this sub, it's other ones too, but I see it here a lot. Another forum I frequent has a pretty strict "no drive-by posting" rule that is very effective at stopping people from doing this. There are some subs on reddit with a rule along the lines of "no replies from OP after 2 hours" that seems effective.

Sometimes, it doesn't matter, because the OP doesn't really need to respond. But a lot of the time people put effort into trying to help and then just get ghosted which is just not a good use of anyone's time and the info they posted isn't particularly useful to anyone without some level of closure or interaction from OP.

I don't think it's too common on this sub, but there are also OPs that are just bots that copy/paste posts from other subs or are AI generated and they never engage in the comments. They'd also be caught by such a rule.

I submit this request with peace and love and may all your drives spin for eternity
