why is it that very hot coffee is more satisfying than hot coffee?

The relief after the burning pain adds a bit of that 'je nes sais quoi'

maybe the increase in blood supply to mouth and throat means that more caffeine will be absorbed on the second sip

Friday, I'm in love 🎵

Gotta get through today, then off to the freezing landscape that is Ballarat for the weekend. I can do this.

Hey Goddess! Thanks!

Woke up and had the opportunity to chair another meeting which was nice. This AA group have become my newest family. They are teaching me things I'd never thought of and making me be incredibly honest with myself. If anyone's been in aa you'll know what I'm talking about.

Going to the wonderful cafe around the corner for breakfast then get some groceries and I'll come home and make a vege stew. Got a bit extra work to do as well but looks like a lazy-ish friday. Maybe I'll do some music and start looking at all the work leads I got yesterday. Really need to start taking time to do some exercise for it's own sake as well.

Enjoy today, its a bit longer then yesterday!!! Weather looks grim, but we don't have to be grim in outlook.

Something has happened on the web client for this where top level comments/replies in a post (like in here) are treated like 2nd level replies with the red lines to the left. Makes it difficult to spot where a comment thread starts and looks like they're part of the same comment thread. Not a fan.

I’ve realised a random thing about myself: I hate when people make “observations” about me and tell me. People do it a lot about my style. I guess I like to look nice, but have a fairly simple style and a clear colour palette because I don’t like to buy lots of clothes, so people often say things like, “You really like to wear X colours don’t you?”

It’s the kind of comment that isn’t a compliment so maybe I’m just defensive but it feels like a judgement or I’m being asked to explain myself and it sets me on edge. I don’t know how to respond either.

They are probably just trying to bond and show they’ve noticed but my whole life I’ve attracted unwanted attention and commentary on my appearance so it’s annoying to me. Do other people have their appearance and clothes commented on a lot? Is that just something people do? It never occurs to me to say such a thing to someone else unless I’m giving a compliment or being like, “Ooh is that a new jacket?”

It is no DT Breakfast Special, but a honeycomb up and go is not bad

Snuck home at lunch to avoid pub time at work. Cosy in PJs with some popcorn and my housemate playing ff16.

Man, I wish we didn't have to go into office.

Gah, last thing I need today.

Cut myself slightly on my finger with a paperclip trying to unzip a stuck zipper.

Right where I bend my finger as well. Just to add to feeling down today. :(

I'm hungry, but also really tired and don't want to have to cook food. Where are the robot servants we were supposed to all have by now?

Maybe I can muster up enough energy to cut up a carrot.

Sodding Flybuys.
I was doing the spend $50 for 4 weeks promo at Coles except I did week 3 online and they omitted an item which took it under the total. I phoned Flybuys and was told by the CS rep that she'd done an override and all I had to do was phone them when the points for week 4 came in.
So of course when I phone I get clueless CS rep who couldn't find my details, my week 3 points or any details of the previous interaction and "The points weren't added because it was an online transaction" and "I'll have to send in the receipt." Which I just did and got the generic 'we will endeavour to answer your query within 5 business days'. Sure, Jan.

modlog is now community-based. You can view others by changing the number in the URL.

I too am not a fan of that red line.

Lol - I need to get into the habit of finding the thread instead of going into what I think is the thread only to find it's days (nay, weeks) old.
