I saw an old post about high speed scanners. The poster suggested that scanners work too slowly to warrant USB3 connectivity. I was thinking about this today as I scanned 50 or so old family photos.

The actual scanning process took about 19 seconds but the progress bar continued on for another 23 seconds. (It took the same amount of time whether I was storing the photos on an external HDD or SSD.)

I’m not sure if the extra 23 seconds was the scanning program processing the image or the USB2 connection slowing everything down…
