Hello hoarders!

I have some hardware laying around and I would like to build a small NAS out of it (TrueNAS probably).

(I will not store anything important in it)

I'm not sure... how many 2.5" hard disk drives can I connect to the single SATA power port this PC have?

The hardware:

  • DELL OptiPlex 3040 (D11S001)
  • 180W DELL HU180ES PSU (check photos for details)
  • PCIe (x4) card to x10 SATA data ports
  • A lot of SATA power splitters (18 AWG)
  • A dozen of 2.5" hard drives (from 500GB to 1TB)
  • 2.5" drive cages

The issue:

Technically I have enough splitters and SATA data ports to connect most of them but that single 6 pin cable how much power can sustain?

The cable (0HG2F3) is 22 AWG

6 pin cable

PSU

Thanks!
