Hey,

I'm brand new to the home server community and want to have a NAS for cloud storage for me and my family.

My idea initially was to use the old small pc as a NAS by using 2 USB hard drives as storage or a USB connected storage unit. However I saw a lot of people discouraging that approach due to slow speeds.

Now I'm thinking to use that old PC just for a home server running Casa OS where I can run my NextCloud instance and use another NAS connected to my network for the storage.

I want to ask you if that is even possible and in that case where I should look for information on how to set it up?

I looked through a lot of NAS boxes and they all seem to be standalone machines with CPUs and RAM and everything. In that case do I need that small pc as a home server running?

Thanks in advance!
